WrestleMania 42
And we meet again!
Welcome back to Four Pitches! And boy oh boy am I at the deadline for this one! Been a crazy week but I am very much excited for WrestleMania. If you follow this series, you know I basically suck with the intro - so let’s just dive right in!
Jacob Fatu vs Drew McIntyre
(In an unsanctioned match)
Remember when Jacob Fatu was attacked backstage? WE NEED ANSWERS! And I pitch that we get those answers. Who should that person be? Tama Tonga, by orders of Solo Sikoa.
Predictable? Ok sure. Disappointed it’s not a new debut? Understandable.
But here is where this story has legs - the attack happened back in October. Back when Tama Tonga, Solo Sikoa, and MFT were all aligned. Today, MFT is a different story. The story on Smackdown lately has clearly been tension between Tama and Solo is rising - and rising quickly. I think an interesting chapter in this story is: What if Tama has to face the consequences of his actions, after his heart isn’t even in it anymore? Does he try to reason with Fatu, and would Fatu even accept that? Does this force Tama to stay with MFT because they could provide extra protection? How big of a mess does this create for Tama before he just snaps? To tie that into this match, Tonga attacks Fatu again. And again, by orders of Solo Sikoa.
This also gives McIntyre a big win on the grandest stage of them all, and he very much deserves that after all his work this past year.
“The Demon” Finn Balor vs Dominik Mysterio
WWE really dropped the ball by advertising The Demon ahead of time. What could have been an amazing surprise, was sacrificed to sell a handful more tickets. Small rant - but who is buying a Mania ticket, an airplane ticket, and a weekend hotel room, all because The Demon being added to the card. I don’t understand the TKO logic there but anyways. I wanted to get that rant out into the universe.
I am pitching for The Demon to win - because he HAS to. There is no “oh but Dominik could cheat to win!”. No. Not in a million years. In fact, in order to make this not a complete squash match, I want JD McDonough to interfere but only to get his ass kicked and then Dom still loses. Fuck it, bring Carlito back for a night - he can get his ass kicked too. I have zero interest in seeing The Demon selling to Dom’s offense either. Maybe something quick but man… WWE could mess this up really easily - but if they get this right, it could be amazing.
I also think we should build towards Backlash with Dom coming at the angle of “well you beat me as the Demon, you can’t beat me as Finn Balor”, where Balor will actually end up beating him again as just himself. Then boom, Balor goes straight into the World Championship scene after that. Finn Balor is finally getting that “big push in 2025” half way into 2026.
Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton
(For the Undisputed WWE Championship)
Cody Rhodes said it himself - this has been the most poorly received WrestleMania main event build ever. (Which is NOT true - I remember how many people were upset with WM31’s build, but I digress). With all this negativity in the air - do we really want here and now to be Randy Orton’s historic 15th world championship win? Let me suggest a better option: Pat McAfee has stated that he will leave the WWE universe forever if Randy doesn’t get the job done. With this in mind, this might be the only reason a Cody Rhodes victory would be a success - and I think we need to pull the trigger on that.
Randy Orton has stated he wants to wrestle for 10 more years. This championship win would put him in 3rd place for most World Championships won in WWE at 15, behind Ric Flair's 16 and John Cena's 17. And even if you feel as if he should, I don’t think he will take the 1st or 2nd place spots during his career. Why have him win that championship now? Randy is a heel that is only getting cheered. Let’s take some time to properly build him up as a heel. There is absolutely no need to rush this.
Plus, this is supposed to be “Randy listening to the voices” but I what has he really done so far? Attacked Cody once. Then while brawling with Cody, RKOs Jelly Roll. That’s not really a whole lot of “omg he’s so crazy”! We need to see Orton become MORE desperate, becoming more evil in the process. Let’s not forget Aleister Black has been in the background this whole time. Once Pat is gone, let Aleister take his place as Ortons devil on the shoulder. Cody gets the victory at mania, banishing Pat McAfee from our TV screens. Randy Orton gets built up to be a true monster.
CM Punk vs Roman Reigns
(For World Heavyweight Championship)
As mentioned before, Samoans have a recent history of running in during matches for other Samoans. There has been no one more instrumental in doing this than Roman Reigns during his time as leader of The Bloodline. I’m pitching another run in for Roman Reigns to take home the title - but not from anyone in the Samoan circle. Instead, what I am pitching is CM Punk loses to Roman Reigns with the help of Hangman Adam Page.
Roman is most likely going to win the championship and most likely continue to be a part timer. So what do we do on weekly TV, especially for a top star like CM Punk? The hottest possible feud in WWE: Hangman vs Punk - a blood feud. I would have Punk turn heel during this feud as well. And for anyone that thinks “Punk wouldn’t allow this!”. For starters, he has no choice. But I can also see Punk welcoming this, as a way to write a wrong on the negative perception of him. If he was able to do this professionally - I think a lot of his haters would lose ammo. I see that as something Punk would welcome.
Well Alrighty then gang!
There ya have it folks. I think in the future, I will have these out like a day or two before the event but I actually did enjoy doing this all last minute, sort of gave me a rush hahaha. Either way, I am literally typing this sentence out and hitting publish, going to see if they have any Broken Skull beers at Walmart, then its time for Mania babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
@Beachsidechico on X if you have any thoughts you want to share during the event! Love yall!
