Will No Mercy bring a new era to NXT? Here's my stab at how I would book some of the events matches!
Jordynne Grace vs Blake Monroe (In a Weaponized Steel Cage Match)
Jordynne Grace finally gets her revenge on Blake Monroe in a brutal match. The weapons in this match include kendo sticks, steel chairs, steel chains, and tables - which are all used by both Grace and Monroe. Both women are battered and bruised when Jordynne dumps out a bag of thumbtacks. Monroe decides the thumbtacks are too much for her, so she climbs the steel cage to the top. Jordynne is close behind and actually fights with Blake to meet her at the top as well. After a bit of a back and forth, Jordynne Grace sends Blake Monroe from the top of the cage down onto the thumbtacks in the ring. As Monroe is suffering in pain, Jordynne pins her for the victory.
On the following NXT, Jordynne is delivering a promo on how she feels like she can finally let go on Blake Monroe… when she is attacked from behind by The Elegance Brand from TNA. Blake Monroe comes to the entrance stage, laughing menacingly, “Oh Jordynne… it’s not over until I say it’s over”. It is revealed Blake Monroe is the new leader of the Elegance Brand, following the unfortunate news that Ash by Elegance has retired from in ring competition. Jordynne over the course of this feud must form a team to fight against The Elegance Brand.
Sol Ruca vs Lainey Reid (For the WWE Women’s Speed Championship)
In the closing stretch of the match, Lainey Reid has Sol Ruca beaten down. Zaria attempts to get involved in the match to help Sol Ruca but inadvertently causes too much of a distraction, allowing Reid to put the nail in the coffin - becoming the new WWE Women’s Speed Championship.
After Reid clears the ring, Ruca and Zaria are arguing over what had happened. Zaria looks increasingly frustrated and turns away towards the ring turnbuckle to calm herself down when - BOOM, Zaria is hit with a Soul Snatcher by Sol Ruca. Ruca claims she knows what was coming, and decided to act first instead of being the victim. This is the beginning of a slow burn heel turn, with Ruca becoming paranoid that Zaria is coming for her North American Championship.
Okay, hold up, pause - freeze frame. I understand this is a controversial one! But here is my thinking: Sol Ruca has done a lot in NXT and I don’t envision her being called up to the main roster just yet. And with NXT being developmental, lets develop some of the skills of the real life performer by having them take this character down an interesting path. Ultimately this story leads to Ruca and Zaria coming back together after Ruca comes to terms that she has been in the wrong. (This would be way down the line).
Also tying in from the earlier booking, Zaria joins the alliance with Jordynne Grace against The Elegance Brand.
Ethan Page vs Tavion Heights (For the North American Championship)
As Ethan Page is making his entrance, he notices Dr Wagner Jr is in the audience. Page makes a point to antagonize Wagner before getting into the ring for the match to start.
Fast forward about 14 minutes and Page retains his North American Championship against Tavion Heights. He leaves the ring but once he reaches top of the ramp, he sees that Tavion has gotten back to his feet for a moral victory. Disgusted, Page runs back to the ring and attacks Heights. Very shortly after, Dr Wagner Jr is out of the stands and in the ring - brawling with Page. Wagner and Heights stand tall in the ring and Page retreats.
Over the next couple of weeks, a triple threat for the North American Championship is set for Page, Wagner, and Heights - which Heights wins. Page and Wagner move on to feud over the AAA Latin American Championship.
Jacy Jayne vs Lola Vice (For the NXT Women’s Championship)
Towards the end of the match, Jacy Jayne is getting desperate, yelling at Fallon Henley at ringside for distraction. As Lola Vice is getting the upper hand, Henley slides into the ring. Jayne looks relieved, thinking help is coming - but BOOM, Henley punches Jayne right across the face. This allows Vice to roll her for the 1, 2, 3 and New! Lola Vice wins the NXT Women’s Championship.
After the bell, Henley stands over the fallen Jayne with a microphone. She says she is tired of living in Jayne’s shadow and admits she was the one who attacked Jazmyn Nyx backstage on Tuesday. She calls Fatal Influence dead weight and says it is finally her time to shine.
Oba Femi vs Ricky Saints (For the NXT Championship)
The match is underway when TNA invades again. In similar fashion to how NXT went off the air during the No Mercy Go-Home show, the TNA and NXT locker room are in a full on brawl. No one enters the ring though, so the match is still ongoing. Matt Cardona jumps onto the apron, getting the attention of the ref. Oba Femi goes to confront Cardona - but he is hit with a low blow by Ricky Saints. Saints gets Femi up for an impressive Roshambo and the pin - Ricky Saints is the new NXT Champion. Cardona gets into the ring and embraces Saints with a hug. Together they beat down Oba Femi even more, ending No Mercy with the TNA wrestlers standing tall alongside Ricky Saints.
From this, Oba Femi leads NXT in the war against TNA. He has been a dominant champion and deserves to be a vocal point in this major storyline between the two companies. I would also have Mike Santana win the TNA Championship from Trick Williams during this war. The first chapter has been NXT taking over, this chapter is about TNA taking and holding the NXT Championship hostage. Williams becomes an outcast, not welcome by NXT or TNA. He recruits other wrestlers who become outcasts during the course of this war, including wrestlers from AAA. I’m getting far removed from the actual No Mercy match at this point so alas, the war has truly began!
Another one done, Beach Bums!
No Mercy seems to be the launching point for a cross promotional war. It could potentially be truly historic!
Thanks for reading - keep it beachy, baby!
